New Managing Director at HOLZMA: Wolfgang Augsten takes over
Wolfang Augsten takes up the position of Managing Director of HOLZMA Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH. He takes over from Holger Bomm. Walter Visel remains Deputy Managing Director.
Change in management at HOLZMA Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH: Wolfgang Augsten will take up the position of Managing Director of the Holzbronn saw manufacturer on May 01, 2015. He will take over from Holger Bomm, who is leaving the company of his own volition after just under three successful years at the helm. Augsten will be responsible for the areas of research and development, sales and service, and commercial issues and will also act as management spokesman. Walter Visel will continue as Deputy Managing Director responsible for the areas of production, quality and materials management.
In the person of Wolfgang Augsten, HOLZMA Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH has appointed a new Managing Director with strong roots in the HOMAG Group and more than thirty years of experience in the industry. The most important milestones: at the beginning of his career, Augsten spent two years working as a project manager in a business consultancy company. In the 1980s, he was one of the pioneers in the introduction of ERP systems. He made a name for himself as a manager in the field of mechanical engineering during his many years of commitment as Managing Director of the HOLZ-HER Group. Then came the move to the HOMAG Group: from 2010 to 2012, Augsten was Managing Director of BÜTFERING Schleiftechnik GmbH, before he assumed responsibility for the business of the HOMAG Group AG in Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
Wolfgang Augsten has plenty of international experience and knows what counts: "Manufacturers of woodworking machinery can only be successful, if they focus on their customers. Their needs must be the yardstick for all products, developments and services. That sounds easier than it is. In order to meet the requirements of our customers, we need a keen instinct for market trends and have to work closely and effectively together across the areas of development, production and sales. I see strengthening this interaction and establishing the organizational framework for smooth and efficient cooperation as one of the key tasks of management."
According to Augsten, HOLZMA is already very well prepared in this respect: "Under the management of Holger Bomm, the product range was revamped so that HOLZMA's customers today get precisely the technologies they need. Another important factor are the many market-driven new developments that make HOLZMA market leader in panel cutting technology. All this goes to show that management and staff have done an excellent job over the past years. I want to build on this and further strengthen the team." It is also very important to him that both internal and external interaction be based on honesty, fairness and courtesy.
Wolfgang Augsten intends to focus on continuous and organic growth. "In the woodworking industry, we hold the position of market leader in panel cutting technology and innovations. It is our intention not simply to maintain this position but to steadily increase our lead," Augsten declares. He sees opportunities for new growth in the non-wood business and in the industrial sector. "Over the next few years, we will extend our range of products in these segments by systematic innovation and investment in new technologies," Augsten announces.
For him, the move to HOLZMA also represents a return home. He grew up in Reutlingen and feels a close link to the people of the region. "I have visited many countries in the course of my working life – from North America and Europe to the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. With my return to the region of Swabia, I have come a full circle and brought with me a wealth of experience and useful insights in other markets and cultures. I will be able to draw on this knowledge to benefit the company, our customers and our employees and am looking forward to the new challenge."Back to List
