HOMAG invests heavily in Schopfloch
Groundbreaking ceremony for new customer center and modern company restaurant
Schopfloch, July 8, 2025. The HOMAG Group is continuing its major investment program at the Schopfloch site. Now the groundbreaking ceremony for a new customer center and a modern company restaurant, with an investment volume of around €40 million, has taken place.
In his speech, Dr. Daniel Schmitt, CEO of HOMAG Group AG, emphasized the great importance that the headquarters in Schopfloch have for the HOMAG Group. “From our base in Schopfloch, we have risen to become the global market leader and will be presenting our unique range of solutions for trade and industry to our customers here in the new customer center.”
In addition to the management team of the HOMAG Group and the CEO of HOMAG’s parent company Dürr AG, Dr. Jochen Weyrauch, the first state official of the Freudenstadt district, Reinhard Geiser, and the mayor of Schopfloch, Thomas Staubitzer, were also present and expressed their delight at HOMAG’s clear commitment to the region in their welcoming speeches. The ground-breaking ceremony was also attended by representatives of the general planner w:architekten GmbH from Freudenstadt and the general contractor Leonhard Weiss GmbH & Co. KG from Göppingen. The latter intends to award the contracts for the individual construction services primarily to regional companies.
In the new customer center, which will be called the HOMAG Experience Center, visitors will be able to experience the world of woodworking live on an area of around 4,500 m2. There will be over 25 machines and systems, digital products, and integrated customer solutions on display. In addition, there will be a so-called brand world where visitors can experience the history and uniqueness of the HOMAG brand, as well as training and event rooms.
Employees can look forward to a modern company restaurant, which will replace the previous dining hall, which is somewhat outdated and too small. “We intend to create a place for communication and interaction where employees will enjoy spending time,” says Dr. Schmitt. Spanning a good 2,000 m², the new restaurant will offer almost 500 seats, including an outdoor area with a café garden and a terrace offering fantastic views. Fresh food will be cooked daily in the fully equipped kitchen, mainly using regional ingredients.
Both new buildings will be constructed with a timber supporting structure and timber façade cladding, in a sustainable manner. In addition, a large photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof. Completion is planned for the end of 2026.
The new buildings form part of HOMAG’s major investment program at the Schopfloch site, with a total volume of around €100 million. This began as early as in 2021 with the expansion of the production area by 6,700 m2 and the construction of a new logistics center with an area of 8,500 m2, which was completed in 2023. In 2024, the complete renovation of the office buildings began, covering a total area of around 10,000 m2 and accommodating almost 700 employees. By mid-2026, a modern and attractive working environment will be created there, featuring a wide variety of rooms with contemporary workstations, as well as its own café and bistro area.
