New in woodWOP 9: Focused on focus
woodWOP CNC programming software from the HOMAG Group is stepping up its game. Version 9.0, with numerous new features and updates, has been available since May 2025.
This new version focuses on an innovative operating concept for greater interaction with the graphics. Using woodWOP is significantly more intuitive thanks to drag & drop, multiple selection and move functions, intelligent capture points and capture lines. We are focusing on the fundamentals. Focused on focus.
New design and dark mode
More modern, fresher, clearer
The new user interface has impressively clear lines and a much larger graphics area. There are no color gradients or blue content. The white background in the graphic and parameter dialog gives woodWOP 9.0 a modern and fresh appearance in the successful powerTouch style of HOMAG.
"Focused on focus" means that woodWOP 9.0 supports the user in their daily work and helps them to concentrate on the fundamentals. The new design helps users to become familiar with the software more quickly. New features and assistants optimize the sequences within the software. Thanks to favorites mode, there is more space for the workpiece graphic during programming.
Users also now have the option of using woodWOP in dark mode. This increases clarity for many users and is easier on the eyes.
Favorites mode
Clear parameter input for processing macros
For users who require more space for the workpiece graphic, favorites mode offers a clear display of the most important parameters for processing macros. The classic parameter dialog with all setting options can be activated by clicking on it. The user can configure the menu of favorites mode: They can either fix it at a specific position in the workpiece graphic or allow it to migrate with the selected processing steps.
The user can switch within the macro family, meaning a vertical drilling hole can be turned into a horizontal drilling hole with a single click. Only a few parameters need to be adjusted, e.g. the drill mode.
New contour element programming
Easier creation of contour elements with drag & drop and polyline function
Save lots of time with drag & drop contour programming. Quickly and easily assign starting points, lines, arcs, chamfers, rounds and splits using drag & drop. woodWOP 9.0 reduces the time required for contour programming by more than 50%. The drop position is the end point of the element. The subsequent element is then automatically inserted so that the user can enter a contour in one go. This makes creating a contour much more intuitive and graphics-oriented.
Drag & drop processing steps and planes
Insert processing steps and planes into the graphic quickly and intuitively
Processing steps such as drilling holes, pockets or saw cuts can also be inserted in woodWOP 9.0 using drag & drop. The drop position is automatically adopted as the insertion point. Contour processing macros such as trimming can also be simply dragged and dropped onto a contour element. The same applies to planes: for example, by dragging on a workpiece edge, an inclined plane can be created very conveniently for miter processing.
Intelligent capture lines: smartSnapping
Replace coordinate inputs with intelligent capture points and capture lines in most cases
In addition to the classic grid points, woodWOP offers capture points on workpiece edges, CAD elements, contour points, processing steps and more. Orthogonal and axially parallel capture lines for these points are also available. New capture possibilities arise at the intersection points of these capture lines. Dynamic grids on the capture lines make it easier to select exact distances. For example, woodWOP uses a grid based on 32 mm for drilling holes. These functions are called smartSnapping.
Multiple selection
Simultaneously select multiple contour elements or macros for increased efficiency
By selecting and moving several contour elements simultaneously, geometries can be adapted, stretched or compressed very easily. This often saves programming via variables and formulas, which is particularly beneficial for woodWOP beginners. Entire groups of processing steps, e.g. drilling patterns, can also be moved or duplicated.
Nesting plugin: Receive automatic position suggestions when inserting single parts
Improved post-production of nesting parts
With the nesting plugin, single parts can be nested manually directly on the woodWOP interface. When single parts are inserted, an automatic position suggestion is displayed on the unprocessed panel. This also applies to lists of single parts that are generated from different systems in the form of an LISXE file and can be imported into woodWOP. For example, lists of parts to be post-produced can be used and processed directly on the machine without using special nesting software.
Travel path optimization of identical processing steps
Reduce program runtimes thanks to optimization of travel paths
woodWOP processes the processing steps in the order in which they are also programmed in the macro list. In the case of programs created by DXF import or originating from external systems or a nesting software, the processing order may be random or not optimal. woodWOP can now optimize this order by reorganizing all the subsequent programmed processing steps, which differ only in their position, in such a way that the travel paths between the processing steps are optimized.
