30 years WEINMANN - Building trust

This year, WEINMANN Holzbausystemtechnik GmbH is celebrating its 30-year anniversary. The history of the company goes back to 1985, when it was founded by Managing Director Karl Weinmann, together with his college friend Alfred Schlegel, as a "garage business".

Up until 1989, the start-up business developed and produced machines for manufacturing timber panels and registered its first patent in this period. Then, a new packaging law forced the machine manufacturer to shift its focus. The new target selected - inspired by an inquiry from Schwörer Haus in 1992 - was timber house construction. In the same year, mechanical engineer Hansbert Ott joined as a co-partner and additional director in the company, which he has since managed in collaboration with Karl Weimann.

1993 saw the construction of a globally unique production plant with automatic CNC production in batch size 1 for the Swabian prefabricated house company. This was an event that triggered a wave of innovation in the German prefabricated house industry and brought about a significant rise in demand at WEINMANN.

From the mid-1990s, WEINMANN shaped mechanical engineering in this field, expanding its position to market leader by the year 2000, and joining the HOMAG Group in 1998. The connection to the global distribution network of the HOMAG Group gave the company the opportunity to expand its international market quickly and thus compensate for the crisis in timber house construction in Germany at the turn of the century.

Today, WEINMANN is the leading global provider of machines and systems for artisanal and industrial timber work. WEINMANN is also the only manufacturer that produces machines for element manufacturing and for beam processing. As part of the HOMAG Group, the company sells its products on all five continents and in the 30 years of its existence, has sold more than 5000 machines. The first production line supplied by WEINMANN at Schwörer Haus is still in operation today: The Swabian prefabricated house company has produced more than 20,000 timber houses on the line since 1993.

At the heart of the product range are the beam processing machines for mechanized beam processing, along with assembly tables and CNC-controlled multifunction bridges for partially or fully automated production of timber wall, roof, and floor elements.

For some years now, the global market leader for machines for timber work has had a second focus in the artisanal sector: With its modular machines, it enables small and medium-sized timber work companies to begin automated production cost-effectively with flexible adaptation options for a changed market situation. Highly flexible compact lines that can be  used to produce all elements that arise in a business efficiently are also interesting for this target group. The latest development from the machine manufacturer is the solid wood portal for processing panel materials, laminated wooden beams, and large-scale solid wood components up to and over 50 meters in length.

In addition to the hardware for timber work production and true to its motto "Building Trust", WEINMANN also supplies its customers with the required know-how: Individual consultation, software for the machine control unit, the optimal hall layout, equipment for optimizing the material flow, and employee training for a quick production start. Furthermore, customers play a decisive role in new developments: As they know the market so well, their requirements and suggestions are intensively integrated into the development work. Therefore, we do not wish to herald the fourth decade of the WEINMANN history without expressing our heartfelt thanks to every single customer for the trustful and successful collaboration.
