€200,000, cars and machinery for craftsmen: Extensive aid package for the flooded areas

Bietigheim-Bissingen/Schopfloch, August 6 - The Dürr Group supports people in the German flood areas with a donation of €200,000. The Group subsidiary HOMAG simultaneously provides affected customers with unbureaucratic immediate assistance: Carpenters and woodworkers whose workshops were destroyed receive loan machinery and discounts from HOMAG. In addition, Dürr donates cars to the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief.

The Dürr Group and the HOMAG Group works council each contributed €100,000 to the cash donation of €200,000. The funds donated by the HOMAG works council come from the so-called social budget of the world market leader for woodworking machinery. Each year, the company pays money into this fund that normally benefits the employees in the form of health and sports offerings, for instance. In view of the scale of the flood disaster, the HOMAG Group works council decided to donate €100,000 from the social budget administered by it. Carmen Hettich-Günter, Chairwoman of the HOMAG Group works council, said in Schopfloch: “Solidarity with the people who have lost so much is top priority right now. And we know that we have the full backing of the workforce. The employees have earned the donated money and are happy to pass it on to those who need help.” Among other things, the donation will support a holiday camp for children and youngsters from the regions impacted by the flooding.

HOMAG also responded swiftly to the plight of customers whose operations were flooded. The company lends out machinery, gives generous discounts to those affected and carries out free inspections and servicing. This enables craftsmen to produce again quickly and secure jobs. Ralf W. Dieter, CEO of Dürr AG and HOMAG Group AG: “There are close relationships in place between HOMAG and numerous customers. It goes without saying that we help distressed customers without any undue red tape.”

Dürr in Bietigheim-Bissingen is also supporting the relief efforts. Not only did the machinery and plant manufacturer donate cash; it also handed over two cars from its fleet to the local chapter of the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW). THW Bietigheim-Bissingen has been on several missions in the flooded areas since mid-July.
